Hey Folks,

I know you might be very confused thinking of how to kickstart your career in this field, might be some of still stuck with watching tutorials downloaded for free, some had even trainings from some of the good institutes of cyber security training.But at the end of the day you feel like you havent made any change so.

You might be feeling that you have knowledge but don’t know where to apply and there is no progress in your CS skills and therefore gradually interest degrades over time.

Before everything take a minute and just map yourself what so ever you have learnt.Try to map in particular branch like web app pentesting, network pentesting, forensics, Mobile app pentesting,malware,exploit development,etc. Try to determine your interest and do a little research.The most important thing to fix your worries is to attend cyber security talks in your nearest venues or join an online forums and communities.

Though i know that basic certifications are necessary to push your resume to HR but believe me oe most of th resume doesn’t know about the certifications they had their mindset that “If you can get the job done then you are in.” . This is the simple hack to crack any interview. Recently I went to one of the security talk there i had a close interaction with one of the speaker so i was discussing few things there i just thew a question that is like a black hole for every beginner that what is more important to establish a good career or way to get in cyber world as a professional and i was Astound by the answer he gave that certifications in India( and may be in y can be bought just by spending a hefty amount of cash and this might be right for some of certified people and this secret is wide open to all the recruiters in this field so then i asked him what should a beginner should do ?. He answered the best way to get in this field is to get a cyber security internship what ever may be durations from 1 month to 10 month doesn’t matter but what matters is hands on experience. So start looking for cyber security internships. The best way to google the security industries in india( in your country) and try to reach out them in physical or if you can get a reference or if you can reach out to HR.

Now if you are aren’t in stage of joining an internship right now then you are even more lucky than others you can utilise this time. You can do some real-time cyber security project and later add in your resume this can boost your resume to new heights. Here are the few references where you can find ideas to innovate :

3. Science buddies

and many more just google it.

Another way where you can utilise your time is by Bug Hunting. Now what is bug hunting? Bug hunting is finding bugs in an online web app or mobile app and reporting back to the company with reports on bugs found and if possible how to mitigate then sometimes company favours it ,and rewards it with some thanksgiving goodies to hefty cash or they can take that in other way and may respond in rude way but sites which has bug hunting programs usually post their projects on bug hunting platforms like

• Bug Crowd
• HackerOne
• Vulnerablity Lab
• FireBounty
